CBT FOR PSYCHOSIS: THEORY AND CLINICAL APPLICATION”. Princess Hotel Room: Forum This workshop is specifically devoted to address CBT approaches to psychosis and psychotic symptoms. These techniques have been recently developed and are in general inspired by the stress vulnerability model of schizophrenia. Among the CBT approaches, two principals strands, each with its own theoretical substrate, are actually spreading. In the first, the focus is upon symptoms (e.g. voices) or clusters of symptoms (e.g. a psychotic episode). The second CBT approach strand draws its theoretical strength from the cognitive therapy approach. Here the emphasis is on the similarity between normal (but strongly held) beliefs and delusional beliefs in terms of psychological processes at play in their maintenance. In this workshop will be showed and discussed some of the most important clinical experience on this approaches, with the aim of encouraging the diffusion of these techniques in the clinical routine and the development of new standardized instruments of assessment.
